Privacy Policy

Effective 10 June 2026 · Inspex

This Policy explains how INSODEC (ABN 11 687 889 707) handles your personal information when you use Inspex, consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information we collect

Account details: your email address and name when you sign up or sign in with Google or Apple, and — if you provide them when creating an account — your company name and country.

Inspection content you create: photos, voice notes, GPS location of defects, and the text of projects, defects and reports.

Usage and device data needed to run the service, such as basic logs and your subscription/entitlement status.

Diagnostic data: if the app crashes, a crash report (device model, operating system, app version and the technical error) is collected via Google Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix problems. Crash reports do not include your inspection content.

We do not collect payment-card numbers — purchases are processed by the Google Play Store.

2. How your data is stored

Inspex is local-first: your data is stored on your device. Photos are kept in the app’s private storage (not your photo gallery) and their EXIF metadata is stripped.

When you are signed in, your projects and defects are synced to Google Firebase (Firestore) so you can restore them on a new device. Photos are not uploaded to our cloud unless you choose to export or share them.

3. Voice notes

Speech-to-text transcription runs on your device. We do not retain raw audio recordings on our servers; the transcribed text becomes part of your defect notes, which you can edit or delete.

4. Location

If you grant location permission, we record the GPS coordinates of a defect to tag where it was found. You can decline the permission; capture still works without a location.

5. AI SmartDetect and third parties

When you run an AI scan, the selected photo and minimal context (such as the standards you chose) are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate an advisory finding. We send the minimum needed and do not use your content to train models.

We use these processors to deliver the service: Google Firebase (authentication, database, and crash diagnostics), Google Play (billing), and Anthropic (AI analysis). Each handles data under its own terms.

6. How we use your information

To provide and sync the app, generate reports, run AI scans you request, manage subscriptions and credits, provide support, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We share data only with the processors above, where you direct us to (for example exporting a report), or where required by law. Your data may be processed on servers outside Australia by these providers.

8. Your choices and rights

You can access and correct your information in the app, export all of your data and photos via Settings → Backup & restore, and delete individual projects, defects or your whole account.

To request deletion of your account and associated cloud data, contact us at info@insodec.com.au. You may also ask us to access or correct personal information we hold.

9. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete content or your account, it is removed from the live service; residual copies in backups are cleared in the ordinary cycle.

10. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including authentication and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

Inspex is a professional tool intended for adults and is not directed at children.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy and will notify you of material changes in-app or by email. The effective date above shows the latest version.

13. Contact and complaints

For privacy questions or complaints, email info@insodec.com.au. If we cannot resolve a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
